Supporting Attendance and Wellbeing

The updated Supporting Attendance and Wellbeing policy and accompanying guidance strengthens our approach to supporting employees through periods of sickness absence and gives managers clearer guidance, tools and processes to ensure consistent, well supported decision making.

The Supporting Attendance Policy applies to all Council employees, including teachers, and must be followed in relation to any sickness absence, regardless of the reason(s).

This updated policy is effective from 1 February 2026.
