Update for all staff (October 2021)

Public Holidays/December Closure Days

What if I/my team normally work Public Holidays/December Closure Days?

Some areas have been set up with alternative holiday schemes.  Your manager will be able to tell you if this applies to you.

If you are in an area where only public holidays apply and you wish to take the December closure days as annual leave, you should book these as normal.

If you are in an area where no public holidays or December have been applied and wish to take the Public Holidays and/or December closure days as annual leave, you should book these as normal.

Booking annual leave on CoreHR:

Annual Leave is available alongside Special Leave and Disability Leave to book on CoreHR by clicking on the “Leave” tab then the “Book Time Off” option.

 * If you receive annual leave in hours, you will need to ensure you have sufficient annual leave for the public holiday dates.  Your normal working hours for the public holiday date will deduct from your balance when the date passes.

You can also view your standard shift pattern on the Time tab in CoreHR.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):

CoreHR will only deduct working days/hours from your balance – just enter the start and finish dates of your annual leave and the correct number of days/hours will be deduced from your entitlement.

Yes, your annual leave balance will be automatically amended at the beginning of the year to include your new entitlement.

The figure is in hours and minutes, for example if you have 2.45 leave remaining, this is 2 hours and 45 minutes (not 2.75 hours).

If your manager has not set up a delegation to allow someone else to authorise leave on their behalf, the request will remain unapproved until they approve it on their return.  Their manager can request access to their team by emailing AskHR if necessary.

Where a manager has left the organisation, CoreHR will automatically divert your approvals to your manager’s manager until your new manager is in post.

If your annual leave balance is in hours, your public holiday entitlement is included in your balance.  CoreHR will deduct the correct number of hours for Public Holidays from your balance if it would be a normal working day for you.  You can view your standard shift pattern on the Time tab in CoreHR – if your standard working hours look incorrect, please email AskHR with the correct pattern and they will amend this.

Those whose annual leave is in days, do not have the public holiday entitlement included and their balance will not be affect by public holidays.
