Recruiting Now!
We are currently recruiting for 19 Housing & Support Officers within the Early Intervention & Community Empowerment Cluster. This is a crucial time in our transformation of Housing services, with the implementation of a new operating model designed to bring significant improvements to outcomes for our 22,500 tenants. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to progress or expand into the Housing and Support Service and provide support to individuals and families within our communities. Please see links below for more information. If you have a strong customer focus, excellent people skills and a desire to improve quality of life across our city, we look forward to hearing from you.

What is a day in the life of working in Housing & Support services?

The Housing and Support Officer role is designed with tenancy sustainment at its heart, and naturally this requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with understanding of relevant Housing legislation. Officers will be allocated a ‘patch’ size of an average 250 tenancies to work with.

On a daily basis you may be involved viewing properties with prospective tenants, investigating antisocial behaviour concerns, provide support to tenants who require a higher level of support to establish their tenancy, working with a tenant group on local improvements, or attending a multi-agency case conference to ensure that tenants are being provided with the appropriate support to remain in their tenancy. This is a flavour of the range of activities, and it will be important to be able to prioritise work as required.

This is a mobile role, often with lone working, and with the expectation that regular visits will be made to tenancies in your patch to view properties, undertake annual tenancy inspections, and work with tenants on local issues. This role also involves the use of technology, for example virtual viewings of properties or virtual meetings.  Successful applicants will be expected to obtain SVQ Level 3 in support and Chartered Institute of Housing Level 3 award in housing management.
